Background
HorologyCrescibit developed Horology, a highly realistic mobile application that brings the craftsmanship and complexity of mechanical watches to smartphones and tablets, allowing enthusiasts to experience advanced watch complications with exceptional precision.
OverviewHorology is a first of its kind mobile application designed for watch enthusiasts who want to experience the fascinating world of mechanical watches without owning one. Mechanical watches are admired for their craftsmanship, engineering and complexity. However, many of these timepieces are expensive and out of reach for most enthusiasts. Horology was created to bridge that gap by bringing the experience of using and interacting with advanced mechanical watch complications directly to a smartphone and tablet. To turn this vision into reality, the creators of Horology partnered with Crescibit to design and develop a highly realistic mobile application that replicates the behavior and experience of mechanical watches with exceptional precision.

Feedback
Excellent team and excellent service. I reached out to Crescibit with a requirement for an app in a niche field. I was impressed by how thoroughly they understood the domain and asked technical questions that even I had not considered. The team was enthusiastic, helpful, and went above and beyond to ensure I got exactly what I was looking for. Even after the contract had ended, they prioritized my requests and resolved issues quickly. I would absolutely recommend them and would gladly work with them again.

ChallengesThe world of mechanical watches has always carried an aura of exclusivity. Several factors made it difficult for everyday enthusiasts to engage with this craft:
High Cost Limits Direct ExperienceAuthentic mechanical watches require years of specialized craftsmanship, which makes them expensive. Many curious individuals never get the chance to hold, wind or operate a real mechanical movement.
Lack of Interactive LearningWhile information about watches is widely available online, there are very few ways to actually interact with and understand how watch mechanisms work. Enthusiasts wanted an experience that respected the complexity of real horology rather than reducing it to basic timekeeping.
Replicating Mechanical Behavior DigitallyMechanical watches rely on intricate physical components and engineering principles. Recreating those experiences within a mobile application required a high degree of precision and attention to detail.
Creating an Authentic ExperienceThe goal was not simply to display a watch face on a screen. The application needed to behave like a real mechanical watch and allow users to interact with its functions naturally.
Our SolutionWe use the best and the latest of technologies that can help boost your product
Realistic Mechanical Watch SimulationBuilt an application that allows users to interact with mechanical watch complications just as they would on a physical timepiece. Designed every interaction to closely mimic the behavior of real mechanical watches.
Authentic Interation with Traditional ComplicationsImplemented a wide range of complications commonly found in luxury mechanical watches. Users can operate split and flyback chronographs, adjust perpetual and annual calendars and activate minute repeaters that chime accurately. The app includes dive bezels, tachymeters, pulsometers, interactive GMT and analog alarm features, along with many other advanced watchmaking mechanisms found in high end mechanical timepieces.
Hands On Exploration of Rare MechanismsThe moonphase complication responds to a virtual knob that cycles through lunar stages, just like adjusting a real watch. The power reserve simulation offers both unlimited and manual modes, where turning the digital crown winds the virtual mainspring until the stored energy gradually depletes. Enthusiasts can also explore custom beat rates, hacking functions and deadbeat seconds to understand how different movements behave.
Realistic Tourbillon and Inaccuracy SimulationDeveloped support for multiple tourbillon styles, allowing users to visualize and understand one of watchmaking's most celebrated innovations. The platform also allows users to experience different levels of timekeeping accuracy and observe how these factors influence watch behavior.
Cross Platform Mobile DevelopmentBuilt the application using React Native. This enabled a single codebase to support both iOS and Android platforms while maintaining a consistent user experience across devices.
High Precision EngineeringDesigned the application with an accuracy level of 99.99%, ensuring that the simulated watch behavior remains as close as possible to real world mechanical operation. Every dial, hand and crown was crafted to feel tactile and responsive. The interface avoids unnecessary digital clutter, focusing instead on the quiet elegance of mechanical watch design. The result is an experience that feels less like a screen and more like a precision instrument.
